Uptown Shelter
Program Outcomes
(for the year ending June 30, 2005)

Emergency Services: 2,560 individual men were
sheltered for one or more nights and most were linked to
needed services. This is a 41% increase over the
number of clients served in the previous year. 50% of clients completed their stated
goals and “graduated” to higher level programs including
Transitional Living.

Transitional Living Program: 70% of clients left
the Transitional Living Program moving to appropriate,
affordable and accessible housing (up from 64% in 2004).

Mental Health Transitional Living Program: 94% of
the clients demonstrated compliance with medication
regimens. 88% demonstrated evidence of improved
independent living skills as measured by post-tests
results after a minimum of 90 days in the program. 92%
of those exiting the program moved to more stable,
affordable, and appropriate housing (up from 83% in
2004).

Substance Abuse Services Transitional Living Program:
77% obtained full-time employment (up from 51% in
2004). 88% completed substance abuse treatment. Of those
who were in the program 90 days, 96% became involved in
one or more support groups. 75% of those exiting this
program moved into appropriate, affordable, and
accessible housing.
